Sometimes it isn’t enough to have rule-following clothes that are tailored to perfection with the perfect accessories and shoes. Sometimes you need just a little “help” to make an outfit go from great to amazing-sauce.
Here is the AYW Staff list of “fashion’s little helpers”. (We all own these items personally…) These items aren’t going to make or break your outfit, but they help create a more polished outfit not only in the way it looks, but in comfort. And the good news? None of these little helpers are going to break the bank.
Fashion’s Little Helpers
You have the most AWESOME-SAUCE shoes. They are foot perfection. They look amazing with every outfit. BUT…when you wear them a certain spot rubs and creates a blister. Yes, you could wear moleskin or a band-aid, but let’s face it, that’s pretty unattractive. You know what isn’t unattractive…Fashion Pre-Heel Spray. This spray is like an “invisible” guard on your skin that keeps blisters, sore spots, and red marks away. Because shoes don’t need ugly band-aids to get in their way.
Have a necklace that won’t stay put? A neckline that is a little too low? A button-up shirt that is gaping a bit? Add Braza Fashion Tape. This double-sided tape makes clothes and accessories STAY where you want them to and is easy to take off (aka … it won’t feel like a bikini wax at the end of the night).
3. Bra Clips
Having your bra straps show is NEVER polished…EVER. But, there are times when you need something different than a regular bra, but don’t quite need a racerback bra. Enter these Bra Clips. They are amazing for turning a regular bra into a racerback or a modified racerback. They stay in place ALL DAY and are WAY better than the paperclip or safety pin trick.
4. Kendra Scott Necklace Extenders (4″ and 2″)
Whenever I’m helping students style their outfits one of the most common things I say is…”Can you make the necklace go down about an inch?” Nine times out of ten the students say, “NO. This is as low as it goes.” Instead of shrugging your shoulders and dealing with a necklace that isn’t quite right (or worse … buying a new necklace for the outfit) invest in these two Kendra Scott Necklace Extenders (link to 4″ and link to 2″). Out of all the “helpers” I’m giving you, I probably use these two the most. It’s a small investment to make sure your necklaces look amazing all the time.
Unless you are buying 100% wool, cotton or cashmere there is a pretty good chance your sweater is going to develop a problem known as “fuzzies”. These are those VERY ANNOYING little balls on certain areas (usually arm pit and tummy) that make a sweater go from polished to hot mess. Instead of delegating the sweater to the DONATE box, try using the ConAir Fabric Defuzzer. It does an amazing job of getting rid of the little fuzzies and bringing new life to an old favorite.
Let’s be honest, no one likes ironing. It’s a pain. There is a whole lot of set up in order to press ONE ITEM. But, having wrinkled items is also NO BUENO. The easy solution…a clothing steamer. No, the press isn’t as sharp as an iron, but a steamer takes little space, time or effort. Win-Win for the busy fashionista.
